Review: Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara

Mascara is definitely my dessert island beauty must-have. Or even my regular day in London and definitely not on a dessert island must-have! I never buy the same mascara twice and while I sometimes worry that one day there will be no more mascaras in the world (Boots) for me to try, I'm pretty certain that that won't happen as there always seems to be new ones coming out.

I received this Clinique mascara free when I purchased two Clinique products a while back and it's become a recent favourite:

The brush is a medium-sized bristle number with a slight curve. I find this brush the perfect size - not too small and fiddly but not so big that I blob mascara all around my eye area (Benefit Badgal, that would be you). It only takes a few sweeps of the wand to get my desired look and the mascara dries to a nice glossy black finish. I always curl my lashes before applying mascara but this helps to enhance the curl and gives them a nice uniform sweep.

Clinque High Impact Curling Mascara retails at £15 which is a little on the pricey side but I'd definitely consider re-purchasing this next time Clinque do a Bonus Time promotion along with my trusty Take The Day Off eye make-up remover.

Have you tried this mascara? What's your current favourite mascara?

My 9 Bar giveaway closes at midnight tonight if you've not entered already!

A Few Of My Favourite Things: April 17th

This week I've been loving...

Photobucket

1. I love London every single day but moments like this just sum up how utterly random London life can be - loved spotting this London Eye capsule making a journey down the river!

2. Nude Lips. I've been taking a break from red and favouring a more natural look. This is Lancome's Colour Fever lipstick in 218.

3. Aussie Lusciously Lighter Self. I received this cute sports top in the post this week from Aussie. I'm excited about following the Lighter Self journey as with summer coming up I want to tone up and not develop last summer's frappuchino addiction (I always get the light ones but they're still full of rubbish!)

4. Dinner at Kimchee. This amazing Korean resturant only opened a couple of weeks ago so I went along with my classmates to take advantage of their 50% introductory offer. The food was so good - I had tofu bibimbap which was lovely and had major food envy over my friend's tempura prawns so will definitely be going back!

New Hair

Well, a new haircut.

Photobucket

My love of Groupon just keeps growing. Today I had a Kerastase treatment, cut and blowdry at O'Sullivans Blackfriars for the bargain price of £22.50! My hair was in desperate need of a cut, I could actually see my split ends and it had got that bit too long and unmanageable so I'm loving my swishy new style.

The salon was great, very businesslike and efficient - I was in and out in 40 minutes and my stylist, Kirsty, really listened to my requests (long layers, no razoring, nothing too short around my face) and gave me a nice bouncy blowdry which I would never have the skill or patience to do myself.

I got a 50% off voucher for my next visit so I'll definitely be going back for my next haircut.

Are you salon loyal or do you er, chop and change hairdressers?

A Few of My Favourite Things & A Giveaway!

This week I've been loving:

Photobucket

1. Dinner at Terrace in the Fields. I snapped up a Groupon offer for The Terrace after dining there a couple of summers ago. It's a really unique restaurant - Caribbean inspired food in a beautiful setting, right in the middle of London's Lincoln's Inn Fields. I had tilapia with a crab and mango salad which was lovely and then shared the blueberry pancakes with my mum. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're looking for a special meal somewhere a little different.

2. I was in too much of a rush to take a proper outfit photo of this dress so please excuse the mirror shot and messy room! I'm loving how the nice weather means pretty dresses, bare legs and flip flops. I hope the sun stays around for a while as it makes me feel so much happier and London looks so beautiful bathed in sunlight! The dress is from the Laden Showroom in Brick Lane which is a great place for independent designers and getting something a little different.

3. I won Becka's blog giveaway and these lovely prizes arrived this week. Can't wait to watch The Devil Wears Prada!

4. I tried my hand at polka dot nails afer reading Gem's tips. Really impressed with how easy they were to do! I used Essie's Lollipop as the base and Nails Inc/Diet Coke's London for the polka dots applied with the end of a kirby grip.

5. My favourite summer beverage - Caffe Nero's iced soya latte.

What are you loving this week?

Lipstick-loving: Pink

Next up in the lipstick-loving line-up is pink. I have a few pinks in my collection and the shade can definitely not be summed up with one lipstick but this one seems like a good place to start - a my-lips-but-better rosy pink:

Photobucket

The lipstick is Clinique's High Impact in Rosette which came free with last month's Glamour. Not bad for £2! The colour lasts well and doesn't dry my lips out. While not as striking as my red or orange looks, I do find myself reaching for this on days when I want to look a little more natural and can't be bothered with the frequent touch-ups that come with wearing a bright colour. In the photo I'm wearing ELF's Mineral Blush in Joy and my usual L'Oreal Superliner and 17 Wild Curls mascara.

What's your favourite pink lipstick?
